Simone grew up originally in a riding school riding and competing on many different breeds in Dressage, Showjumping, Eventing and Pony Club from a very young age.
Simone competed up to 1* Eventing and C grade EFA level in 97 and became a groom for a top level Showjumper in NSW unfortunately life got in the way and Simone took a few years off riding horses and started back into competition in 2003. Since then Simone has taken on and trained various horses including Shabooh Shoobah (Pre Novice Eventer) Atremis (Pre Novice Eventer) Kilronan Clockworks (Introductory Eventer) while these TB horses are obviously good for eventing Simone has found them to be inadequate when competing against bigger moving WB and WB cross horses and it was then that She found and fell in love with the Morgan horses during a Defence force posting to Albury when Simone agisted her horse at Haymeron Park Morgan horse stud.
During her time at Haymeron Park Simone fell in love with the breed and it's versatility especially Karenza Apollo, and after posting back to Sydney Simone not only purchased one of Apollo's foals Haymeron Park Peridot but had the opportunity to train and compete Haymeron Park Kentucky man for Rick and Jo Hayes and this cemented her love of the breed.
Simone fits in her training and competing with the horses around a full time Procurement position with the Australian Defence Force, She is also currently writing for "The Eventer" magazine and a committee member for Sydney International horse trials.
Simone's husband Matthew Monaghan grew up in the Central coast and having only been around horses once before meeting Simone he has taken to them like a duck to water, having not only become a expert in his own right with many aspects of horses, training and the industry but a indispensable groom and general handy man to have around. Matthew is currently undertaking the training of our new horse "From the Ashes" and enjoys training horses with Simone.
